Club National Rankings

Up next in our post-Triple Crown rankings update is the 17s division. Like the 18s, we put out an updated list ahead of Triple Crown but given the number of ranked teams in the field and the amount of results it produced we thought it would be fitting to update the list once more. Keep in mind, the rankings below don’t just represent what happened at Triple Crown. They also factor in other results to date such as Central Zone and the Northern Lights qualifier. One big change came at the top with MKE Sting 17 Gold taking over No. 1. Sting came into Triple Crown ranked No. 3 in our Top 50 and with its performance in Kansas City it goes into qualifying season holding the top spot. The very top teams shuffled slightly, with previous No. 1 Hou Skyline Royal sliding to No. 2 and while Arizona Storm 17 Thunder stayed and No. 2 and 1st Alliance 17 Gold remained at No. 4. We updated our 18s Club rankings heading into Triple Crown. With nearly all of the teams from our Top 50 competing in the three-day event in Kansas City and so many of them going at it head-to-head, we wanted to release another update to reflect the tournament. Therefore, we present our latest Top 50 below. There was no change at the top, as TAV 18 Black remained in the No. 1 spot. TAV finished runner up to Coast 18-1 in the 18s final and that was enough to keep TAV at No. 1. Coast shot up from No. 9 to No. 3. It’s important to remember the rankings below reflect not only the results of Triple Crown, but of national qualifiers played to date as well. You can see the full new rankings below. In January we released our initial 14s National Rankings. With few tournaments at that point, we listed 30 teams. In our latest update, and with Triple Crown results plus Central Zone, we’ve expanded to 50 teams. With it comes a new No. 1 in Madfrog 14 Green, which followed up its perfect showing at the Tour of Texas stop in Houston by going undefeated at Triple Crown. It made Madfrog the obvious pick to take over at No. 1. HPSTL 14 Royal, which was at No. 1, moves down one spot to No. 2. There was plenty of shuffling elsewhere. Both Coast 14-1 and Circle City 14 Purple climbed into the Top 10. Munciana 14 Chipmunks shot up the rankings as well, while clubs like AZ Sky 14G, Borinquen 14-1 and Arizona Storm 14 Thunder make their debuts beginning in the Top 20. We’re moving on to the 15s division during our February rankings update. There’s been a change at the top, with Tstreet 15 Naseri replacing TAV 15 Black at No. 1. Reason for the change came with TAV losing twice during the Tour of Texas stops – with both setbacks coming against Madfrog 15 Green. Considering Tstreet is currently undefeated in regional play, it was hard to justify keeping TAV on top. Therefore, we head into Triple Crown with a new No. 1. Of course, the three-day slugfest of an event is going to play a big part in shaping our next rankings update in March. In our latest 16s division rankings a familiar face remains at the top in Skyline 16 Royal. Skyline opened up No. 1 in our initial release in January and has had a strong enough beginning to the season to justify staying put. Between the Tour of Texas and Central Zone, t’s been a fun start to the 16s season with many of the top teams already tangling and going at one another. Skyline finished this past Tour stop by going 7-0. It included beating TAV 16 Black twice. TAV handed Skyline a loss at the first stop but Skyline earned revenged both times this at the latest stop and that kept Skyline on top. Mintonette Sports m.61 isn’t far behind because of the amount of quality victories to date. Those include beating Legacy 16-1 Adidas, Boiler Jrs 16 Gold and Central Zone champ NKYVC 16-1 Tsunami twice. Overall, there was plenty of movement. There has been enough action since releasing our initial 17s Top 50 Club National Rankings that it created plenty of movement. There has been the Northern Lights qualifier, the Tour of Texas stops, Central Zone, plus the Nike Classic and the MLK Invitational to help shape the latest pecking order that has left us with a new No. 1. The debate for being the top-ranked team is just that. A debate. Hou Skyline 17 Royal lands at the top spot based on its performance at the Northern Lights qualifier, where it took first place, as well as going a perfect 7-0 this past weekend at the Houston Tour of Texas stop. Hou Skyline took a few hits at the first stop in Dallas, but has since rebounded as evidenced by its latest efforts. That, combined with the overall strength of schedule, moved Hou Skyline to the top. Of course, with the Triple Crown NIT approaching this coming weekend, it’ll give a new round of results to sort through and guide our next release set for March. Since the release of our initial Top 50 National Rankings for the 18s there have been six national qualifiers. Those are the events – along with upcoming tournaments like Triple Crown NIT and Bluegrass – that influence the rankings the most. Given the number of qualifiers it’s time to update the 18s pecking order heading into this weekend’s Salt Lake Showdown and Triple Crown in two weeks. There was a decent amount of turnover, with 11 new clubs entering the rankings this go around, as well as plenty of shifting among the 39 clubs which appeared in our initial Top 50. When it comes to the 14s age division, many of the top teams are all capable of taking turns beating one another. It makes coming up with the initial rankings challenging, but you have to start somewhere. When it comes to our first 15s National Rankings of the season we begin where we essentially left off in 2023. Headlining our Top 50 is TAV 15 Black, which is coming off a USAV gold-medal performance in 14 Open last summer. The club starts the year as the team to beat once more, as the roster improved from last year. It’s a long season and we expect to see plenty of fluctuation from our initial rankings, but we don’t expect TAV to ever veer very far from the top. The season starts to take off over MLK weekend, with a handful of travel tournaments taking place and leading into events like the Nike Classic and Central Zone. We’ll use results from all of those before our next update ahead of Triple Crown. Our initial rankings were put together as preseason rankings and didn’t account for any results to date, which will change with our next update. Though we are more than a month away from Triple Crown and still further away from the beginning of qualifying season, MLK weekend is typically the first time clubs will hit the road and travel to events out of their region.
