USAV 14-15s: Day 4 Show Stoppers

One of the standout aspects that brought immense enjoyment during the last few days of the USAV Girls National Championships for ages 14-15 was the level of competition. The 14 and 15 Open divisions featured loaded fields, but the same could be said for the 14-15 National-Patriot divisions and numerous other teams in attendance. It was truly impressive to witness the incredible talent and skill exhibited by so many young girls who were absolutely dominating the court. Their passion and determination to excel in the sport of volleyball was inspiring and it was a testament to the bright future of the game. Among the teams that caught my attention every time I walked by was Mauloa 15 Green. They stood out with their scrappy and powerful style of play. Their determination and tenacity on the court demanded attention, making them a captivating team to watch. One match that I truly enjoyed watching was the championship match between 1st Alliance 15 Gold and MKE Sting 15 Gold in the 15 National Division. It was awesome to witness the fierce competition on both sides, as the pins swung with fiery intensity. The liberos’ relentless defense and the relentless offensive attacks from both teams added to the excitement. With both teams employing a 5-1 system and their setters playing all the way around, the match offered a unique dynamic that showcased the versatility and skill of the players. The presence of dominant middle blockers creating impactful plays added an extra layer of excitement to the game.  Throughout the day, there were a few players who truly stood out and left a lasting impression. One such player was Olivia Henry, an exceptional outside hitter from ASEVC 15 Premier. Her ability to effortlessly hit over the block showcased her incredible power and skill. Day 4 was high energy as we entered the last day of the AAU National Championships Wave 3. So much fun, so much excitement, so much energy on the courts.  A few of the matches I watched were high passion and straight energy. The semifinals matchup between VAQUERAS 13-1 and OT 13 T Tabitha was electric. VAQUERAS 13-1 ended up winning the match 25-19, 22-25, 15-4. Setter/right side Molly Monday, outside hitter/middle blocker Leilani Lamar, middle blocker Makaia Mohammed and outside Addelyn Vanduinen also had some great moments for their squad. On the VAQUERAS 13-1 side of the net Decelise Champion was incredible. The six-rotation opposite hitter was high-flying and powerful wherever she swung. The setter Natania Negron, outside hitter Paula Jimenez and libero Mia Erazo had their moments of greatness and helped lead their squad to the finals.  On the other side of the bracket A5 13-Karen squared off against the newly-crowned 2023 USAV 13 Open Champions Legacy 13-1 ADIDAS, with Legacy winning the match in 25-18, 29-27. In one word Day 3 was ELECTRIC. Talk about fiery wins and loaded upsets! So before I get sidetracked talking about crossover matches let’s start talking about the 11s division. 11 National The first four matches of the gold bracket were tight score wise! Three of the four went to three games and were only won by two points! The semifinals were both won in two setting up the finals match up of Elevation 11 Dawn vs Excel 11 Red. And for the most part you had two different style teams facing off. From the Ohio Valley Region this Elevation squad was filled with speed and two middle blockers who loved to crank on slides. And from the North Texas Region you had a never say die squad that didn’t make a ton of errors and served tough. In the end Excel 11 Red won the National title in two sets, 25-14, 25-23. Congrats Excel!  12 National The 12 National matches Friday were played with incredible passion and determination, delivering a mix of excitement, heartbreak and pure grit.

USAV 11-13s: Day 3 Show Stoppers

TAV 13 Black came out on top but Madfrog and HPSTL had to play a one set to 15 to see who else advanced. The energy both on and off the court was electric, and HPSTL pulled off the upset.  The challenge matches also were intense and the four teams advancing to the gold bracket all deserve a huge round of applause.
